Republic Picks Up the Pace in Camdenton

Zoey Johns and Lucas Riffe led Republic at the Camdenton Invitational Saturday at Ha Ha Tonka State Park, and all 12 Tigers in the two varsity races ran faster than they did four days earlier at the Republic Invitational.

Johns finished 20th in the girls race in 20:57.4, her best time of the season and 1:22 faster than she ran Tuesday. Brylie Harris was 31st in 21:44.0, also a season best, and Jovi Kirby ran a personal best of 21:46.2 to finish 32nd, 2.2 seconds behind Harris.

Peyton Bodoin finished 38th in 22:43.1. Ellie Woolfenden was 64th in a season-best 25:58.8, and Zoie Walker ran a personal best of 26:55.5 to finish 67th.

Republic finished sixth out of 10 scoring teams with 152 points. Joplin won the team title with 51 points, ahead of Bolivar with 55 and Kickapoo with 67. Joplin freshman Emery Spencer won the race in 18:39.2, 16 seconds ahead of Kickapoo’s Chloe Goddard.

Riffe finished 18th in the boys race in 17:15.1, a season best and more than a minute faster than his time Tuesday. Luke Delahay ran a personal best of 17:33.4 and finished 24th.

Eli Sherrow finished 55th with a personal best of 19:17.4. Caden Young was 75th in 20:19.2, Hiro Nambara was 84th in 20:55.0 and Derek Argaez was 88th in 21:01.3, and all three ran personal bests.

Kickapoo won the boys team title with 23 points.

Republic’s next meet is the Branson Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 9 a.m.
