Republic’s track and field teams competed at the Jason Pyrah Invitational in Willard on Thursday, each finishing fifth in a field of more than 15 schools. Republic got individual event wins from Alex Johnson on the boys side and Maura Lander and Reese Tate for the girls.

Lander, a freshman, won the triple jump with a mark of 10.67 meters. She also ran a leg on two relay teams with strong finishes — the second-place 4x400m (4:20.69) and the fourth-place 4x200m (1:50.37).

Freshman Reese Tate outlasted lightning delays and the rest of the field, picking up gold in the pole vault. She set a new personal best of 3.2m in the process.

Brylie Harris had a strong night in the distance races, finishing second in the 1600 meters (5:47.35) and fifth in the 3200 (12:46.43). She also was part of the second-place 4x800m relay, which finished in 10:23.54. The relay team was Harris, Josie Stalzer, Jovi Kirby, and Zoey Johns. Stalzer also ran the 4×400, which included Lander, Quinnlyn Keller and Aryanna Kucij.

Avery Rossow contributed in the throws, placing fourth in the discus (35.17m) and fifth in the shot put (10.74m).

Republic’s girls finished fifth with 79 points. Marshfield won the team title with 134.5.

On the boys side, Johnson won the 200 meters in 22.81 seconds. He also ran in the second-place 4x100m relay — Jacob Duran, Gavin Lawhon, Treyton Gray, and Johnson — which finished in 43.61.

Izaiah Hull was second in the javelin at 46.17 meters.

AJ Uhl finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.13).

Republic’s boys finished fifth with 56 points. Willard won the boys title with 145.5 points.
