Two Republic Middle School eighth graders won state championships at the 2025 MOUSA Girls State Championship Tournament last weekend. Mabel Rogers and Savannah Bratten claimed titles in their respective weight classes.
Rogers won the 14-and-under 110-pound division with a technical fall over Avery Griggs of Centralia in the championship match. Rogers advanced with a technical fall in the quarterfinals and pinned her opponent in the semifinals.
Bratten captured the 14-and-under 125-pound championship with a 16-10 decision over Hailey Lewis of Cameron. She dominated her earlier matches with a technical fall in her first match, followed by pins in her quarterfinal and semifinal.
Both wrestlers competed for Republic’s Rogue Warrior Wrestling Club and had also found success last month at the Missouri Nationals tournament on February 14. At that event, Rogers won with a 6-5 decision over Brynlea Lahr in the finals, while Bratten swept her bracket with pins in all her matches, including a championship fall over Mekenley Altic in 1:57.
