Republic Radar: What to Watch For This Week in Republic Athletics

Believe it or not, Republic will begin postseason play in two sports this week. Here are some things to keep an eye on:

Volleyball

The game of the week? Keep your eye on the Lady Tigers volleyball team Tuesday night. Republic takes a ten-match winning streak into a Central Ozark Conference showdown with Nixa. Republic is 20-4. Nixa is 21-3. The Lady Tigers haven’t beaten Nixa since 2014. Republic follows that up with another big match at Webb City Thursday.

Football

Coming off a convincing win at home against Joplin, Republic will travel to Branson to face a much-improved Pirates team. Branson has wins over Carl Junction, Carthage, and Neosho this year. Republic and Branson have played eight times over the past five seasons, and they’re 4-4 against one another in that time.

Tennis

Republic begins its team district tournament with a home match Monday. Action begins at 4:00 pm against Waynesville in a wide-open district tournament. Subsequent matches in the tournament are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Golf

The Lady Tigers golf team will travel to Carl Junction Monday for the COC tournament. Izzy Benson will be looking to improve on her all-conference performance last year, when she finished seventh. The Class 4 District 3 tournament will be held in Springfield Wednesday.

Softball

The Lady Tigers go on the road Tuesday for a COC battle with Ozark. They’ll make up a previously postponed game against Kickapoo Wednesday in Springfield. Friday, Republic will host Lebanon.

Soccer

The soccer Tigers return to conference action with a road game at Ozark. They’ll travel to Rolla Thursday.

Swimming

The Tiger swim team looks to continue cutting times at its next meet Friday in Springfield.

Cross Country
The cross country team will be at Branson Saturday, and Gracie Troester will be looking for her fifth win of the season.
