Republic finished in a tie for second place at their home tennis tournament Friday, just two points behind overall champion Greenwood. The Blue Jays finished with 11 points overall, based on their first-place finishes in both singles flights, a fifth-place finish in #1 doubles, and a fourth-place finish in #2 doubles. The Tigers and Webb City each finished with 13 team points.
Republic won the #1 doubles flight, with the team of Michael Nacy and Bradley Hendrix. Gabe Bandfield and Jacob Overturf finished second in #2 doubles, losing in a tiebreaker after failing to convert a championship point.
Freshmen Austin Mackey and Brett Carpenter won the consolation brackets of the #1 and #2 singles flights, respectively.
The Tigers are back in action at Branson Monday. They’re at Carl Junction Tuesday before hosting the Central Ozark Conference Tournament at home on Wednesday.
