Republic out-hit Monett 6-4 Friday, but six Tiger errors made the difference in a 3-1 loss on the road.

Despite the porous defense, the Tigers still had a chance to win the game thanks to an outstanding pitching performance by Alex Reynolds. He worked six innings and allowed only four base hits, striking out four and walking one. In the 1st and 5th innings, he pitched around multiple errors, allowing only a single run in each.

Parker Nelson scoops a throw at first base just before the runner arrives.

The Tigers had broken ahead in the top of the 1st when Austin Atkins and Parker Nelson singled, Jake Smith bunted them over, and Regan Butterworth hit into an RBI groundout. The rest of the way, though, Republic just couldn’t get the big hit it needed despite putting runners in scoring position four more times.

In the top of the 7th with two outs, Republic put the tying runs on base before Butterworth lined out to the left fielder to end the game.

Monett’s Zach Hammond got the win in relief. Reynolds was saddled with the loss.

The Tigers fall to 11-6 this season. They’re back in action Tuesday night at Nixa.
