Izaiah Hull shattered the school record in the javelin and the boys 4×100 relay broke its own mark for the second time in four days as Republic placed sixth in both the boys and girls divisions among 23 schools at the SBU High School Bearcat Classic on Monday in Bolivar.

Hull’s throw of 54.10 meters — a personal best — earned him second place in the event. That easily surpassed the old record of 53.01 meters set by Cooper Douglas in 2023. Lincoln Caldwell added a 10th-place finish in the same event at 43.86 meters.

The boys 4×100 relay team of Jacob Duran, Gavin Lawhon, Treyton Gray, and Alex Johnson crossed in 42.66 seconds for second place. That was nearly a half-second faster than the school record set by Duran, Gray, Johnson, and Tucker Ladd last Friday at the Christian County Relays.

Johnson also finished second individually in the 100 meters at 11.10 seconds. Gray added a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters at 23.29.

Junior AJ Uhl was Republic’s most versatile men’s performer, taking second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.77 seconds and fifth in the high jump at 1.80 meters. Senior Ekene Chukwu placed fourth in the discus at 43.39 meters.

Freshman Maura Lander took second in the triple jump at 10.71 meters. Freshman Reese Tate was second in the pole vault with a personal-best 3.10 meters. Senior Madi Chevalier threw a personal-best 37.72 meters for third in the javelin. Senior Avery Rossow placed sixth in the shot put at 10.84 meters and seventh in the discus with a season-best 32.90 meters. Zoey Johns finished ninth in the 3200 meters with a personal-best 12:41.27, and Brylie Harris was 10th in the 800 meters with a personal-best 2:29.38.

In the relays, the women’s 4×800 team of Zoey Johns, Josie Stalzer, Jovi Kirby, and Brylie Harris placed fourth at 10:11.31. The 4×400 squad of Maura Lander, Josie Stalzer, Quinnlyn Keller, and Aryanna Kucij was fifth at 4:15.22.

Republic’s boys scored 46.5 points for sixth place in a field won by Webb City with 103. The girls’ 36 points tied Willard for sixth, with Ozark winning at 134.
