Republic dropped two games to wrap its baseball road trip to mid-Missouri on Friday and Saturday.

Smith-Cotton pitchers combined to hold Republic to one hit in a 5-0 shutout Friday at Sedalia. Brennan Overstreet had the only hit of the night for the Tigers.

Republic starter Cooper Thomas kept Smith-Cotton off the board through three innings, but a three-run fourth inning was all the host team needed. Smith-Cotton added two more in the fifth to push the lead to 5-0. Thomas took the loss, going five innings with four hits, five runs and four walks. Drake Dishman tossed a scoreless sixth in relief.

Liberty North put up six runs in the second inning and rolled to a 7-1 win over Republic on Saturday. Republic collected six hits but couldn’t bunch them until the sixth, when Landon Blankenship scored the Tigers’ lone run on a Preston McCracken RBI single.

Troy Fisher and Ben Highley both homered for Liberty North

Maddox West took the loss, pitching all six innings. He allowed seven hits and seven runs while walking one. Greg Hicks doubled as a pinch hitter in the seventh for Republic’s only extra-base hit of the game.
