Republic got an early goal and made it stand up in a 1–0 win at Waynesville on Saturday in a makeup match. The Tigers scored in the sixth minute and kept Waynesville off the board for their third straight win.

Micah Wright found the net just over six minutes into the match, with an assist from Isaiah Redman. That turned out to be the only scoring of the day, but Republic kept pressure on Waynesville throughout. The Tigers finished with 10 shots, including five on goal, compared to nine shots and none on goal for Waynesville.

Republic’s defense turned in a clean performance, limiting Waynesville’s chances and preventing any shots on goal. Goalkeeper Koal Williams didn’t have to make a save while recording the shutout. It’s the eighth shutout of the season for Republic’s defense.

Sieb Kleeven had two shots, one on goal, and Redman added one shot and one assist. Will Pinnell and Mason Tackett each put a shot on goal.

The win marked Republic’s eighth in its last nine matches. After a 1–10 start, the Tigers have improved to 9–11. It was also the first time Republic’s varsity and JV teams have both beaten Waynesville during the regular season. The JV won 3–1 to improve to 7–4.
