Republic Wrestling Seniors Leave Mark with Dominant Performance Over Kickapoo

The contribution of five seniors and the growth of the Republic wrestling program was evident in a dominating win over Kickapoo on Senior Night Wednesday. Republic powered its way past Kickapoo 69-12, winning all but two matches.

Before varsity wrestling began, Republic recognized seniors Phillip George, Braydin Casey, Caden Allen, Maddox Wilkins, and Manning Wilkins. Coach Eric Nolan, in his third season at Republic, said the senior class has played a role in the program’s advancement.

“They’ve meant a great deal. They do a good job every day of setting the tone in the practice. And a lot of the guys that we’re talking about with that senior group were the ones that came in Day One last spring after the state tournament and helped us set the tone for this season,” Nolan said.

Here more of Eric Nolan’s comments about the senior class on this episode of the REPMO Sports Show.

Phillip George and Caden Allen did not face challengers from Kickapoo Wednesday, but Casey and Manning Wilkins each won by fall, and Maddox Wilkins won a 4-2 decision.

The girls team beat Kickapoo, too, 42-18. Republic won the only two contested matches, with Emily Carter and Gabby Shanks each pinning their opponents.
