Republic freshman Mabel Rogers has added another title to her growing résumé, winning the 110-pound championship at the USA Wrestling 16U & Junior Folkstyle National Championship in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Rogers went 4-0 at the tournament and outscored her opponents 50-1 across the bracket. It’s her second national championship in about six months. She won the 110-pound bracket in the Girls 9–12 Division at the Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals in Des Moines last fall. And it comes two weeks after Rogers capped an undefeated 42-0 season with the first girls wrestling state championship in Republic history.

In this weekend’s final, Rogers defeated top-seeded Ella Neibert of Indiana by major decision, 13-0. Rogers led 3-0 after the first period. In the second, Neibert’s trip sent Rogers backward, but Rogers scrambled up and got behind Neibert before she could score — turning a potential takedown into points of her own. She pulled away in the third.

Rogers rolled through the bracket with three victories before the final. She opened with a 15-0 tech fall over Elli Casey in the championship round of 16, then tech-falled Aliyah Tangpricha 16-1 in the quarterfinals. She beat Kirra Mitchell 6-0 by decision in the semifinals before shutting out Neibert in the title match.

Between the Missouri state tournament and folkstyle nationals, Rogers has gone 8-0 and outscored her opponents 113-4 over the past three weeks.
