Saturday at the Class 4 District 3 wrestling tournament, Connor Sandridge won his second consecutive district championship and Keaton Overcast became the first freshman state qualifier from Republic since 2018.
Sandridge pinned his first three opponents in less than four minutes total. He defeated Nate Brower of Nixa to win the district title on a 5-2 decision.
Overcast received a bye and followed it up with a win over Payton Link of Nixa. After a loss in the semifinals, he defeated Grady Huntley of Carthage with a pin in the third period to earn his way to the state tournament.
Sandridge and Overcast will compete in Columbia starting Friday, and they share this week’s Performance of the Week.
