Much of the Lady Tigers’ varsity tennis lineup returned from quarantine Tuesday for a battle against Branson, and it turned into a rout. Republic won all nine matches on its home courts in the shutout win.
Key to the shutout was a come-from-behind win at #3 doubles by Ashlyn Leonard and Taylor Massey, who overcame a 7-3 deficit to win 9-7. That gave Republic a commanding three-matches-to-none lead. From there, Republic swept the singles matches to finish off the night.
Tuesday marked the first matches in more than a week for Elsie Crawford, Abby McCord, Morgan Lewis, and Mia Stan.
The 9-0 score is just Republic’s second-ever varsity sweep of Branson. The JV team won 13-6.
The Lady Tigers are now 5-1 overall and 3-0 in Central Ozark Conference play. They’ll step out of the league Wednesday to host a solid Springfield Central squad.
