Three Golds, One Record for Repmo at Nixa Invitational

Republic won three events, and one relay team broke a school record at the Nixa Invitational track meet Tuesday. The girls team finished third and the boys team finished fourth out of 13 schools competing.

The highlight of the day was the fall of an 18-year-old school mark in the girls 4×800 meter relay. Miha Nambara, Kristin Probst, Misora Nambara, and Jasmyn Douglas finished their race with a time of 9:55.04. That was good enough to win the event by more than six seconds, and it topped the old school mark of 9:56.55 set in 2003. The time was 17 seconds better than the team’s previous best this season.

Another relay team – the boys 4×200 – finished first in its event. Chase Liedtke, Chase Buford, Cooper Douglas, and Devon McMillin ran their race in 1:34.16, topping second-place Ozark by about a half-second.

In addition to her win in the 4×800, Jasmyn Douglas picked up Republic’s only gold medal in an individual event. She won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.42.

Republic’s second-place finishers included Lexi Reeves in the pole vault, Chase Liedtke in the long jump, A.J. Fenske in the discus, Kristin Probst in the 400-meter dash, Miller Rountree in the 300-meter hurdles, and the 4×400 relay team of Aaliyah Vasquez, Probst, Gracie Woods, and Douglas.
