REPMO Rips Two Homers in Senior Night Win

Republic batted around in the first inning and never looked back in a 13-3 win over Reeds Spring on softball Senior Night. The Lady Tigers banged out 13 hits and got two home runs – one from Mara Lakey and another from A.J. Fenske – before honoring its six seniors.

Avery Romans, Mara Lakey, and Ella Tattershall all doubled during Republic’s first inning rally, as the Lady Tigers sent 11 batters to the plate in grabbing a 7-0 lead. Lakey’s double hit the top of the fence in right field, just short of her third home run of the year.

After the game, Republic honored seniors Alex Creech, A.J. Fenske, Kaitlyn Ragsdale, Avery Romans, Claire Summers, and Emma White.

“They’ve seen a lot of softball, and they’ve done a lot for the softball program,” coach Lee Dishman said of his seniors. “They’re going to go down as one of the best senior classes we’ve ever had. Not only do they earn it on the softball field, they’re up in the classroom working their tails off. They’re leaders in the classroom and on the softball field, so it means a lot.”

Lakey finished with three more hits, and she’s 5-for-6 with three home runs through the Lady Tigers’ first two games. She has six RBIs and is slugging 2.400. Jenna Belcher, Fenske, and Jaci West added two hits apiece for Republic.

The Lady Tigers improve to 2-0.
