Republic’s defense wasn’t perfect in the district championship game against Willard. But for eight minutes it was pretty darn close. The Lady Tigers allowed just one field goal and two points in the first eight minutes of the game. They allowed just five baskets in the entire first half, and they led 21-11 at the halfway point. The defense was almost as good in the district semifinals against Carthage, when the Lady Tigers allowed just 14 first-half points and just 34 points for the game. Republic won both its district games by 17 points, and heads to the sectionals playing some of its best defense of the season.
