Girls Relays Highlight Big Day for Repmo Track

Republic track and field athletes posted several personal bests at the Southwest Baptist University High School Bearcat Classic. Kaitlyn Ragsdale earned points in four events––two individual and two relays. Delaney Smith also earned points for Republic in four events as the opening leg of four different relay teams. So did Jasmyn Douglas, in one individual event and three relays.

Douglas had Republic’s top finish of the day, taking second place in the 400m dash with a time of 1:00.22. Ragsdale turned in a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 13.15. She was also sixth in the 100m hurdles at 16.78 (also a personal best).

All four girls relay teams ran their best times yet. The girls 4x800m team cut ten seconds off its time to run a 9:59.76, and is now just three seconds off the school record. Mihane Nambara also posted her best time in the mile.

Among the boys, two relays and two individuals topped their previous bests. Jean Carlo Marin Barrantes cleared 11’6″ for the first time in the pole vault. Louis Wallace triple-jumped 39’6″, a best for him. The 4X100 relay team of Jaden Appleberry, Chase Liedtke, Louis Wallace, and Claye White finished in a best-yet 45.27, and the
4X400 relay team of Claye White, Landon Porter, Kenny Koenig and Cam Flood finished in 3:36.42.
