Running on one of the hottest days of the season, the Lady Tigers cross country team finished first by a wide margin at East Newton Saturday. Four runners finished in the top ten, led by Jasmyn Douglas, who finished fourth. Lawson Tunnell finished sixth, Jade Kirby was 8th, and Jazzy Kirby finished 10th. Lydia Davis was not far behind at 13th.
Chad Parker finished 13th in the boys race, and was the only Republic boy to earn a medal. But several other Tigers finished with personal best times.
“Overall, it was a great day for Republic cross country,” says coach Christie Bishop. “I am very proud of the effort on such a hot day.”
The top finish for the Lady Tigers is the best for Republic at an away meet in at least nine years.
