A day after losing at Branson, Republic’s tennis squad returned home to whip Hillcrest 8-1. The night featured a new look for the Tigers, who moved some players from their JV team to fill in varsity roles.
The shake-up was part of an effort by the coaching staff to adjust the Republic lineup. While the JV players filled in, some of the varsity players participated in “challenge matches” to help guage where they should fall in the lineup.
The players ranked 9-12 for Republic — Tyler Ghan, Kily Thornhill, Cameron Doke, and Will Berry played varsity matches and won. Republic’s only loss of the day was at #1 doubles, where Case Birlew and Hunter Creek dropped their match to Tyler Lesue and Lucas Liming.
