After a disappointing loss at Willard in their season-opening dual, the Republic wrestling squad showed it’s still a team to be reckoned with. The Tigers finished tied for 3rd out of 22 teams at the Fort Zumwalt East tournament in St. Louis. Republic and Fort Zumwalt South each finished with 183.5 points. They were just four points behind runner-up Zumwalt North, and 17.5 points behind champion Hannibal, which finished with 201.

The best finish for the Tigers came from Shayne Piles, who made it to the championship match before finishing 2nd in the 285-pound division. Zach Jester finished 3rd at 220. Justin Rogers (113), Kyle Powell, and Paden Lucero each finished 4th.

Pedro Lopez took 5th in the 152-pound bracket, and Hunter Powell was 5th at 106. Jonathon Beckett also finished in the top 8 of his division, taking 7th at 120.
