The Republic Tigers struggled all night on offense, and struggled even more after regulation ended in a 47-45 double-overtime loss at Rogersville. The teams were tied 43-43 at the end of the 4th quarter, and Republic got only one more bucket in the two overtime periods, as they suffered their second loss of the season.
In the first overtime period, Rogersville scored on its first possession to take a 45-43 lead, and Republic answered on a right-wing jumper by Canyon Smith. But neither team scored the rest of the way, and the teams headed to double overtime.
In the second overtime, a putback by Aaron Freeman gave Rogersville the lead, and the Wildcats defense did the rest. Rogersville held on to give head coach Rod Gorman his 500th career win.
Cody Geiger had a big game for the Tigers, scoring 23 of their 45 points. Canyon Smith added seven points, and Jake Fletcher had five.
Republic falls to 15-2 this season. Rogersville improves to 9-7.
