The Republic volleyball teams swept Aurora Monday, with all three matches ending in straight sets. The freshmen started the night with an easy victory 25-7, 25-8. The JV team followed up with a straight-set win of its own, 25-11, 25-5. And the varsity finished the night with a 25-17, 25-17 win.
In the JV game, the teams were tied early when Republic scored eight straight points on Sarah Kreul’s serve to pull away in the first game. The outcome of the second game was never seriously in doubt.
In the varsity match, Elle Aston led the Lady Tigers with nine kills and 10 digs. Shelby Gordon had six kills. Mallory Long contributed nine service points, including four aces. Jordan Jones had 16 assists for Republic.
The Lady Tigers improve to 3-1. They’ll play Kickapoo Tuesday night at home, starting with a freshman match at 5:00.
