A school record fell on Republic’s own track Thursday during the Republic Relays, and Republic won five total events. The Republic girls finished third in the team standings with 99 points, trailing only Nixa (118) and Branson (106.5), while the boys placed fourth with 75 in a meet won by Waynesville (149).

Junior Alex Johnson shattered the 200-meter mark with a 21.5, erasing Skyler Owen’s 2018 mark of 22.21 by nearly three-quarters of a second.

Along with Johnson’s 200m record performance, he anchored the Tigers’ 4×100 team of Jacob Duran, Gavin Lawhon, and Treyton Gray, which ran 42.98 to place second, a time that would have been a school record at the start of the season.

Junior AJ Uhl finished second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.72) and added a third-place finish in the high jump at 1.83 meters.

Senior Izaiah Hull placed second in the javelin at 45.85 meters. Junior Ekene Chukwu posted a second-place discus throw of 45.48 meters, with senior Aiden Schaefer fourth at 43.03 meters.

No one on the girls’ side had a better day than senior Avery Rossow, who won shot put at 10.84 meters and took first in discus with a throw of 33.01 meters. Senior Allison Burford finished third in discus with a personal-best 32.31 meters.

Sophomores Brylie Harris and Zoey Johns drove the girls’ distance effort. The two were part of the 4×800 relay team that won the event in 10:16.21, joined by Josie Stalzer and Jovi Kirby. Harris posted a second-place finish in the 3200 (12:48.20) and was eighth in the 1600 (5:45.86, PB). Johns went fifth in the 800 (2:35.81, PB) and sixth in the 1600 (5:43.57). The 4×400 team of Maura Lander, Stalzer, Quinnlyn Keller, and Aryanna Kucij also won, finishing in 4:16.32.

Lander finished third in the triple jump at 10.67 meters, placed ninth in the long jump (4.78m), and ran legs on both the 4×200 (fourth, 1:50.29) and the winning 4×400 team. Reese Tate added a third-place finish in pole vault at 2.90 meters.
