Nolan Lashley legged out an inside-the-park home run to cap a four-run second inning, and Preston McCracken went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases as Republic rolled past Waynesville 10-2 on Monday.

The Tigers (5-7) scored in five of seven innings and never trailed after plating two runs in the first. Cooper Thomas walked and scored on an error that allowed Zayden Danielson to reach base. McCracken followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.

Republic added three more in the second. Brennan Overstreet led off with a double to center and scored on a Fisher Moore fielder’s choice. Two batters later, Chase Connell singled and Lashley drove a fly ball to left field that got past the outfielder, allowing him to circle the bases for a two-run inside-the-park homer and a 5-1 lead.

Landon Perkins scored on a dropped third strike in the third to push it to 6-1. Greg Hicks drove in McCracken with a single in the fifth, and Connell added an RBI single later in the frame to make it 8-1.

Republic tacked on two more in the sixth. Thomas walked and Danielson doubled him to third. McCracken singled home Thomas, and Overstreet lifted a sacrifice fly to score Danielson.

Overstreet earned the win on the mound, working five innings and allowing one unearned run on two hits. He walked two and struck out four. Maddox West pitched the final two innings, giving up one run on three hits with three strikeouts.

McCracken, Thomas, Overstreet and Connell each had multi-hit games. Thomas and Connell finished with two hits apiece. Overstreet had a double and a single. McCracken drove in two runs and scored once.

Waynesville managed five hits on the night. Kyren Dance and Seth Hance each had an RBI for the Tigers.

Republic heads to the Smith-Cotton Tournament on Thursday.
