Father Tolton, Vianney Top Tigers at Marshfield Invite

Republic dropped its last two games at the Marshfield Invitational, falling 6–2 to Father Tolton on Friday and 11–3 to Vianney on Saturday.

Tolton piled up 12 hits to beat the Tigers, who led 2–1 through three innings before the Trailblazers took over. Nolan Lashley walked, stole two bases and scored on a throwing error in the first. Zayden Danielson singled and scored on a two-out single by Brennan Overstreet in the third.

Tolton answered with back-to-back two-out RBI singles in the fourth, a solo home run in the sixth and a two-run seventh. Cooper Thomas took the loss, allowing four earned runs on nine hits in six innings without issuing a walk.

Republic dropped an 11–3 decision to Vianney on Saturday, falling behind early and unable to close the gap.

Vianney plated four in the first and added five in the fourth to build a 10–1 lead. Republic answered in the third when Landon Blankenship doubled, Cooper Thomas singled him to third and Nolan Lashley doubled to center for an RBI.

The Tigers put together their best inning in the fifth. Chase Connell walked, Thomas drew a two-out walk and Brennan Overstreet singled home a run. Thomas scored on a passed ball to make it 10–3. Republic loaded the bases before the inning ended.

Blaine Long worked three innings of relief, allowing one run and two hits.

Lashley finished 2-for–4 with a double and an RBI. Blankenship, Thomas and Overstreet added hits. Republic drew seven walks.
