Republic’s boys and girls track and field teams each finished third in a 13-team field at the Christian County Relays on Friday. Ozark won the girls meet ahead of Nixa, and Nixa took the boys title ahead of Ozark.
The boys 4×100 relay of Jacob Duran, Treyton Gray, Tucker Ladd and Alex Johnson set a new school record with a third-place time of 43.11 seconds, with Ladd stepping in as a last-minute substitute. The mark broke the previous school record of 43.44 set in 2018 by Chase Liedtke, Dylan Brown, Jake Jones and Skyler Owen.
Boys
Senior Danny Fair won the pole vault at 3.65m. Junior AJ Uhl won the 110m hurdles in 15.84.
Junior Alex Johnson placed second in the 100m at 11.19. Junior Ekene Chukwu was second in the discus at 45.20m. Senior Izaiah Hull placed third in the javelin at 45.77m.
Chukwu added a fourth-place finish in the shot put at 13.77m. Freshman Lincoln Caldwell was fourth in the javelin at 43.06m, and Uhl placed fourth in the high jump at 1.85m.
Girls
The 4×800 relay of Zoey Johns, Josie Stalzer, Jovi Kirby and Brylie Harris won in 10:18.51.
Freshman Maura Lander placed second in the triple jump at 10.88m.
Sophomore Zoey Johns took third in the 3200m at 13:07.35. Freshman Emma Ellison was third in the javelin with a personal-best 35.45m. Freshman Reese Tate placed third in the pole vault at 3.05m.
The 4×400 relay of Lander, Stalzer, Quinnlyn Keller and Aryanna Kucij placed fourth at 4:22.81. Kucij was fifth in the open 400m at 1:03.84, and Brylie Harris took fifth in the 3200m at 13:32.38. The 4×100 and 4×200 relays both placed fifth.
