Andie Wistrom scored four goals in one half of Republic’s 8-0 mercy rule win over Hillcrest at the Branson Shootout on Thursday.
The Hillcrest game ended in 36 minutes. Wistrom opened her night by beating a defender to a loose ball on the right side and sliding it between the keeper and the near post from about 10 yards out to make it 2-0 with 24:08 left in the half. She took a feed from Ava Woolley for her second, crossing the ball in front of the keeper left to right and finding the right side of the net. Woolley set her up again for the hat trick — this time from the right side of the box to Wistrom, who put it away. Her fourth came just inside the left post with 3:24 remaining for the 8-0 final.
Four goals in one half puts Wistrom on MSHSAA’s record book list for goals in a half, where she ties for 20th.
Wistrom’s four-goal half qualifies her for the state reocrds list, and it’s our Performance of the Week.
