State qualifiers for Republic’s girls wrestling team after Saturday’s Class 2 District 3 tournament at Ozark. The program had sent one wrestler to state in its entire history before this season. Mabel Rogers, Savannah Bratten, Aara Shade, Rachel Clark, Millie Waterman, and Gabby Shanks all earned berths.

38-0

Mabel Rogers’ record on the season after winning the 115-pound district championship as a freshman. Rogers won all three of her district matches by bonus point — a 15-0 technical fall and two pins — and didn’t allow a competitive match all day.

Points allowed by Rogers and Bratten in their combined six district matches. Both freshmen won district titles without surrendering a single point on the mat. Bratten won the 125-pound championship at 26-1 on the year.

137.5

Team points for Republic, good for third place in the 20-team district field. That’s the highest team finish ever for Republic at districts. Nixa won the team title with 206.5. Willard was second at 154.0, and Belton was just behind Republic at 132.5.

That’s how many seconds it took Gabby Shanks to pin Parkview’s Jadrian Townsend in the consolation semifinal at 135 pounds — the match that clinched her state berth and gave Republic its sixth qualifier. She actually had two pins even faster than that, including a 14-second pin in the first round.

The number of times Millie Waterman has qualified for the state tournament. She’s the first-ever girls wrestler to make it to state twice. Waterman, last year’s lone qualifier, won her consolation semifinal by major decision before pinning her way to a third-place finish at 120 pounds on Saturday.
