Republic High School wrestling teams spent Thursday in Bolivar competing in a four-team quad against Bolivar, Lebanon and Monett. On the boys side, Republic went 2–1 in duals. The Tigers defeated Lebanon and Monett while falling to Bolivar. Republic collected wins in 8 of 14 weights against Lebanon, piled up another 8 wins against Bolivar, and closed the night by winning 9 matches against Monett.
The girls also competed in three duals and won two of them. Republic defeated Monett and Bolivar before dropping the final dual to Lebanon in a tiebreaker based on the fact that Lebanon had fewer open weights.
Keaton Overcast anchored the middle of the lineup, going 3–0 on the night with two falls and a technical fall at 144 pounds. Isaac Crowley also finished unbeaten at 138, picking up a decision and two falls. Kameron Sutton went 3–0 at 165 with two technical falls and a one-point decision.
In the upper weights, Ethan Montiel and Brennan Bird both delivered multiple bonus-point wins. Montiel recorded two falls and a forfeit win at 215, while Bird finished with two falls and a decision at 285. Izaiah Hull added a fall at 175, and Shelby Horton earned a major decision at 132 against Lebanon.
Gabby Shanks was dominant at 135 pounds, finishing the night with three falls, all under a minute. Mabel Rogers went unbeaten with two falls and a forfeit win at 115, continuing her strong season.
Millie Waterman added a fall and multiple forfeit victories in the middle weights, while Addison Stepp picked up a decision and a forfeit win at 155. Aara Shade finished the night with a fall at 170.
Republic is in Overland Park, Kan., for the Joel Rios Invitational this weekend.
