Republic’s girls swim team opened the 2025-26 season by shattering one of the program’s longest-standing records Thursday night at the Springfield All-Relays Meet at Foster Natatorium.

The medley relay team of Amelia Beaver, Elise Replogle, Ava Brown, and Zaylie Pinnell touched the wall in 2:03.54 in the night’s opening race, breaking the previous mark of 2:07.47 set in 2019-20 by Quinn McCrea, Karissa Metzger, Mady McCrea, and Kathryn Flippin. The time was approximately four seconds faster than the team’s best mark in the event at the end of last season.

“I had a pretty good idea what it was going to be, but I’m really happy with that,” said Beaver, a sophomore. “It’s great.”

For freshman Ava Brown, competing in her first high school race, the time wasn’t surprising based on pre-season work. But the record-breaking performance hints at bigger goals ahead. “It’s really exciting,” Brown said. “I’m excited for state and to see if we score points.”

The record-breaking performance set the tone for a strong evening. The Tigers remained competitive throughout the meet, posting solid times across all five relay events.
