The Lady Tigers topped a nine-team field Tuesday at the Foster Natatorium in Springfield, scoring 242 points to mark the first time a Republic swim team—boys or girls—has won a meet.
Republic finished well ahead of runner-up Lebanon (187) and third-place Bolivar (163) to secure the victory.
The historic night included two school records. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Annalice Renegar, Elise Replogle, Zaylie Pinnell, and Ava Brown set a new program standard with a time of 1:49.34.
Brown also etched her name in the record book as an individual, clocking a time of 26.35 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle to break the school record.
Republic added an emphatic victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay, winning the race by 26 seconds over the nearest competitor.
While the relays and records led the headlines, Republic’s victory was driven by depth, with seven different swimmers scoring at least 16 points.
Brown was the team’s top scorer with 28 points. In addition to her record-setting 50 freestyle, she posted a time of 57.23 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.
Replogle added 26 points to the team total. She finished the 100-yard butterfly in 1:09.83 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:13.84.
Renegar contributed 24 points, competing in the 100-yard backstroke (1:17.61) and 200-yard freestyle (2:29.67).
Sara Chism scored 23 points, recording a time of 2:32.43 in the 200-yard individual medley and 1:27.15 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Pinnell finished with 22 points, including a 1:01.42 finish in the 100-yard freestyle. Mei Pruett added 21 points, swimming the 200-yard freestyle in 2:22.10 and the 100-yard freestyle in 1:07.12.
Amelia Beaver rounded out the top scorers with 16 points. She posted a time of 2:09.11 in the 200-yard freestyle and 1:11.03 in the 100-yard backstroke.
