Republic’s golfers saved their best for the biggest stage of the season so far, firing a season-low team score to finish third in the West Division at the Central Ozark Conference Tournament.

The Lady Tigers carded a 380, trimming 28 strokes off their previous best this fall. Carthage won with a 345, followed by Webb City at 355.

Three Republic golfers earned medals, led by Jenna Smith with an 89. Taylor Jameson shot 91 and Stephanie David added a 95. Macy Hendrickson rounded out the team score with a 105. All four posted career-low rounds.

“I told the girls before we started that we were going to have our best day of the season today, and they delivered,” coach Curt Plotner said. “We have been practicing very well, but we just hadn’t put it all together at a tournament yet. Today was an awesome day, and I am so proud of how they played.”

The medal was a breakthrough for Jameson, who only joined the golf team this year but has consistently played well in her first year.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action for the Class 4 District 3 Tournament next Thursday.
