Republic’s soccer team cooled off last week, dropping two matches after a streak in which they won 10 of 11. The Tigers lost 2–1 to Carthage at home Tuesday and 2–0 at Willard Thursday—snapping a four-match win streak.

Against Carthage, the Tigers fell behind in the 29th minute but drew level just before halftime. With 39:10 gone in the first half, Mason Tackett finished off a setup by Maddox Aldridge. Carthage scored early in the second half and made it stand. Republic generated three shots (two on frame) and one corner. Koal Williams made three saves, and blocks by Mason Makoski and Aldridge helped limit damage as Carthage stacked nine corners.

At Willard, two first-half goals decided it. Republic put all four of its shots on target and earned three corners after the break but couldn’t break through. Williams recorded three saves before giving way to Ben Roe, who added one. Quality looks came from Landon Otero, Tackett, Aldridge, and a header by Isaac Vermule.

Next up is Senior Night against Parkview on Tuesday. After that, the district tournament opens for Republic at noon on Saturday, November 1, at home against Branson.
