Two Bracket Wins Add Up to 2nd-Place Finish at Nixa

Republic earned second place as a team at the Nixa Invitational Friday, led by a pair of Flight Two championships. Abigail Bremer swept through her bracket to win Flight Two singles. She beat Forsyth 8–1 in the opener, topped Ozark 8–5 in the semifinals, and clinched the championship 8–5 against Nixa’s McKenna Kembell. In doubles, Mati Carpenter and Aubree Tinsley rolled past Forsyth 8–2 and Ozark 8–1 before finishing with an 8–5 victory over Nixa’s Brooke Chandler and Hannah Schiman in the title match.

In Flight One singles, Paelyn Kaufmann won her first match 8–1, lost in the semifinals to Glendale 8–0, then bounced back to beat Nixa 8–6 for third place. In Flight One doubles, Claire Norris and Marlee Vasquez outlasted Glendale 8–6 in the first round. They fell to Willow Springs 8–6 in the semifinals and dropped the third-place match to Forsyth in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (8-6).

Republic’s JV team also turned in a championship effort, winning the Lebanon JV Tournament.
