Republic’s rally in the bottom of the seventh inning came up short in a 2–1 home loss to Rogersville on Monday night.
Rogersville pushed across two runs in the fourth inning, one of them unearned, and held that lead until the final frame. Republic managed just five hits, but strung together one last threat when Mia Carnes singled to lead off the seventh. She came around to score on an RBI groundout by Emma Ellison, but the tying run was stranded at third base. Carnes finished with two hits to lead the offense.
Kara Goeke took the loss despite a solid outing. She worked five innings, giving up two runs—one earned—on five hits, with five strikeouts and one walk. Kendra Goeke threw two shutout innings in relief, striking out one without allowing a hit.
The loss was Republic’s fourth in a row, dropping the Lady Tigers to 10–12. They travel to Joplin on Tuesday. Rogersville improved to 13–8.
In the JV game, Republic came away with a win to improve to 12–1.
