Cross Country Faces Big Stampede Field

Republic cross country ran against one of the biggest fields of the season at the Southern Stampede in Joplin. The girls’ varsity finished 24th in the large school division, and the boys placed 31st.

Varsity Girls

Brylie Harris led Republic with a 20:40.16 for 89th place in the 5,000 meters. Zoey Johns finished in 21:11.01 for 114th, and Catherine Wilson crossed in 21:30.67 for 134th. Peyton Bodoin (22:23.71) and Malori Koskovich (22:33.31) rounded out the scoring five. Ellie Woolfenden (26:22.20) and Chloe Gralak (27:00.61) also competed.

Varsity Boys

Will Payne was the top runner for the boys, placing 150th in 17:37.07 in a field of 319. Lucas Riffe followed in 17:55.11 for 175th. Three Tigers finished within seconds of each other: Luke Delahay (18:52.13), Alex DeHaan (18:52.44), and Caleb Brest (18:54.50). Eli Sherrow added a 19:54.78.

Junior Varsity Boys

In the 3,000-meter JV race, Gabe Benjamin placed 17th in 11:32.17. Anthony Badami finished in 12:11.80 for 51st, and Kaisei Wilcutt ran 12:45.54 for 78th. Braxton Zinter (13:01.44), Derek Argaez (13:09.57), Hiroharu Nambara (13:32.68), and Jack Noggle (14:07.84) also ran.
