Despite struggling to score runs at times during the Morrisville Tournament, the Lady Tigers are still reaching base in 37% of their plate appearances as a team. They’re led by Piper Dishman, whose on-base percentage if .563, thanks partly to the plate discipline that has helped her draw six walks.

The number of tackles registered by sophomore Nolan Lashley in Republic’s season opener. Lashley led the team in that category, and he recorded two tackles for loss, also a team-leading total, in his first significant varsity action.

The number of tennis matches between Republic and Nixa during the Republic/Nixa JV Challenge on Monday. Republic captured the overall win, 51-36. The two programs, both among the biggest in terms of roster participation, hold the challenge early in the season every year to give more players match experience.

Coach Lee Dishman promised small ball this season, and so far the Lady Tigers are delivering. They have stolen 16 bases in five games, and they have not yet been caught stealing. Paige Elsenraat leads the team with five. The Lady Tigers have also laid down three successful sacrifice bunts.
