Addie Brown’s two-run walk-off home run was the highlight of Republic’s opening day at the Fall Festival Tournament, capping a 6-5 comeback win over Fort Zumwalt West.

The Lady Tigers trailed 5-2 entering the bottom of the sixth before rallying, and Brown’s blast sealed the dramatic victory on Friday morning.

Republic dropped its second game 6-0 to Grain Valley, managing just three hits. Grain Valley scored twice in the first and added four more in the fifth. Kara Goeke struck out nine in six innings but took the loss.

In the finale, Republic used another big rally to defeat Truman 10-7. Down 3-0, the Lady Tigers erupted for six runs in the third and four more in the fourth to take control. Mia Carnes finished three-for-three with two singles and a double, while Maddie Taylor and Emma Ellison each added two hits. Piper Dishman struck out six and earned the win.

Republic plays two more games in the tournament on Saturday.
