Republic sophomore Reese Finley broke her own school record in the 400m, turning in a blistering time of 57.24 seconds to win the COC West Championship at JFK Stadium in Springfield.
Finley had already broken the previous record of 58.91 (set by Brooke Stanfield in 2013) earlier this season in her first meet back from injury. Her latest time represents a 1.67-second improvement over the 11-year-old mark.
The sophomore now holds a piece of four Republic track and field records – the 400m, 4x200m, 4x400m, and 4x800m relays. She joins Jenna Belcher and Gracie Troester as the only Republic girls who are currently part of four different track records. And her second record-breaking performance of the season was our Performance of the Week.
