Middle School Track Competes at COC West Meet

Republic Middle School athletes delivered several standout performances at the Central Ozark Conference West Championships in Carthage Monday, with the eighth-grade girls finishing second and eighth-grade boys placing second in the team standings.

Maura Lander led Republic with multiple top-three finishes. The eighth-grader won the triple jump with a leap of 10.29 meters and anchored the first-place 4×200 meter relay team (1:53.91) with teammates Maleah Long, Elaina Cooper, and Anna Hawks. Lander also helped the 4×400 meter relay team to a third-place finish (4:33.70).

Kyndall Snider excelled in the sprints, capturing first place in the 200-meter dash (27.71) and anchoring the winning 4×100 meter relay team (54.26) alongside Addison Warren, Kyla Lawhon, and Anna Hawks.

On the boys side, Baelor Cutbirth had an outstanding meet, winning the shot put with a throw of 12.72 meters and placing third in the 200-meter dash (25.00).

Jathan Ghan dominated the 100-meter hurdles, winning with a time of 15.41 seconds, and was part of the third-place 4×400 meter relay team (3:59.02) with Lincoln Caldwell, Emerson Carey, and Max Boswell.

Ezekiel Seaton swept the throwing events for the boys, claiming first in the discus (36.79m) and third in the shot put (10.11m).

Other first-place finishers for Republic included Reese Tate in the pole vault (2.93m) and Campbell Piper in her section of the pole vault (1.98m).

The eighth-grade girls 4×100 relay team (Warren, Lawhon, Hawks, Snider) and 4×200 relay team (Long, Cooper, Hawks, Lander) both captured gold medals.

Addison Warren secured second place in the 100-meter hurdles (17.44) and was part of the winning 4×100 relay team.

The Republic eighth-grade girls finished second in the team standings with 115 points, behind Webb City (171). The eighth-grade boys also placed second with 113 points, trailing Webb City (167). The seventh-grade girls finished third with 87.5 points, while the seventh-grade boys took fourth with 71.5 points.
