Kickapoo scored five runs in the first inning and pulled away for a 14-0 win over Republic in five innings Thursday.
Brody Wilson pitched a complete-game shutout for the Chiefs, allowing three hits while striking out three. After Republic put five runners on base in the first two innings, Wilson retired the final 10 Tiger batters to end the game.
Preston McCracken took the loss, giving up seven runs on five hits over three innings. Ryder Smith pitched the final two frames, allowing seven runs.
Jackson Overstreet, Nolan Lashley, and Cannon Ellison had the only hits for Republic. The Tigers had their best scoring chance in the second inning when the first three batters reached base safely. But one runner was picked off second base, and a double play ended the threat.
The loss drops Republic to 11-11, while Kickapoo improves to 13-10.
