Republic finished second in a 20-team field at the Bird-Dog Golf Tournament Monday at Briarbrook Golf Course in Carl Junction. The Tigers posted a team score of 318, trailing only the champions, Carl Junction.
Cason Bekemeier and Ryder Edmonds paced the Republic effort, each shooting a 77 (+5) to tie for third place individually. The two shared the top Tiger score on a day when Jack Spencer of Carl Junction claimed medalist honors with a 73 (+1).
Luke Heavin added an 81 (+9) for Republic, placing him tied for 15th in the 83-player field. David Hayes shot 83 (+11) to finish tied for 27th, while Porter Bollinger completed the Tigers’ scoring with a 90 (+18).
Carl Junction dominated on its home course, not only winning the tournament but also placing its second team in third place with a 324. The Bulldogs were led by Spencer’s 73 and Logan Lowry’s 74, giving them the top two individual finishers.
Neosho (326), Monett (331), Webb City and Nevada (tied at 336), and Ozark (339) rounded out the top eight teams.
The Tigers are back in action at the Marshfield Tournament Tuesday.
