Gracie Troester swept four events at the Republic Classic, leading Republic’s girls track team to a dominant performance in the season-opening meet.
Troester, who had planned to compete in only three events, was pressed into service in the 4×400-meter relay when a teammate was scratched late. Despite never having run the event before, she anchored the relay team to victory, capping a perfect day.
Earlier, Troester had won both the 1600-meter run (5:31.39) and 3200-meter run (11:42.04), and she was also part of the winning 4×800-meter relay team. Her unexpected performance in the 4×400 helped the Lady Tigers pull away from the competition.
Republic’s girls piled up 198 points to win comfortably over Fair Grove (120.5) and Sarcoxie (97) in the team standings, and Troester’s part in the win was our Performance of the Week!
