Republic’s Sherri Dunn-Drain, a dominant force in Missouri distance running during the early 1980s, will receive a posthumous Wynn Award at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Women’s Sports Luncheon April 15.

Dunn-Drain, who passed away in 2022, graduated as valedictorian of Republic’s Class of 1983. She earned six All-State track medals and captured the 3200-meter state championship in her senior year.

Her accomplishments included state runner-up finishes in both the 1600 and 3200 meters in 1982 and a seventh-place finish at the state cross country meet that fall. She also placed third nationally in the Junior Olympics in cross country.

For 40 years, Dunn-Drain held Republic’s school record in the two-mile run until Gracie Troester broke it in 2023.

The Women’s Sports Luncheon will be held at the Oasis Convention Center in Springfield.
