Lady Tigers Earn Three COC Medals

Republic’s girls wrestling team placed seventh at the Central Ozark Conference tournament Friday in Joplin, scoring 98.5 team points. Nixa won the team title with 320 points, followed by Waynesville (216) and Ozark (189).

Millie Waterman and Gabby Shanks each earned third-place finishes to lead Republic. Waterman (30-6) won her quarterfinal match by fall before losing a close 4-2 decision in the semifinals at 120 pounds. She bounced back with two wins, including a third-period pin against Ozark’s Hannah Maskrod in the third-place match.

At 135 pounds, Shanks (26-8) also reached the semifinals with a quarterfinal pin. After a semifinal loss, she responded with two more falls, defeating Webb City’s Tatum Christensen in 1:06 to claim third place.

Addison Stepp finished fourth at 145 pounds. Aara Shade finished fifth, with wins over Lebanon’s Alyssa Dawson and Kickapoo’s Kylie Galyean.
