Republic placed sixth out of 17 teams at its home girls tournament Saturday, led by junior Millie Waterman’s championship at 120 pounds.
Waterman dominated her bracket with five pins, including a fall in 2:27 over Camdenton’s Kenleigh Virtue in the finals. She improved her season record to 20-4.
Gabby Shanks added a third-place finish at 135 pounds, winning three matches by fall before dropping a semifinal match to eventual champion Aja Watson of Buffalo. Shanks bounced back with a pin in the third-place match over El Dorado Springs’ Kayla Nelson.
Junior Rachel Clark took fourth at 115 pounds after reaching the semifinals with two pins and a technical fall. She now has a 14-9 record for the season.
Junior Aara Shade (140) and freshman Bre-Elle Gutierrez (110) contributed fifth and sixth-place finishes, respectively. Shade went 3-2 with three pins, while Gutierrez earned her place with a technical fall and a major decision. Senior Abby Horn also finished sixth, earning two pins on the day.
Smith-Cotton won the team title with 196 points, followed by Knob Noster (183.5) and El Dorado Springs (165.5). Republic scored 99.5 points for sixth place.
