Soccer Program Plans Winter Skills Clinic

Republic High School’s soccer program will host a two-day winter skills clinic in February at Sweeny Elementary, focusing on fundamental skills for young players.

The “Fútbol Fundamentals” clinic, set for February 21 and 28, will divide participants into three age groups. Students in kindergarten through second grade will meet from 5:00-5:45 PM, third through fifth graders from 6:00-6:50 PM, and sixth and seventh graders from 7:00-8:00 PM.

Republic’s high school coaching staff and players will provide instruction on passing, dribbling, shooting, and defense through skill-based games. The clinic is open to players of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced.

The $20 clinic will be held in the Sweeny Elementary gym. Participants should bring water and wear indoor flat shoes or gym shoes. Shinguards and soccer balls are optional.

Questions about the clinic can be directed to head coach Jesus Zuniga at jesus.zuniga@republicschools.org.
