Performance of the Week – Republic Girls Swim Team

For the second consecutive week, the Republic girls swim team turned in our Performance of the Week. And this time, they topped last week’s single-record performance by breaking three school marks at the Kirkwood Invitational – some of them multiple times.

In a week that saw Keiran Govan pour in 28 points at Lebanon and the boys wrestling team capture the Republic Invitational championship (with individual titles from Keaton Overcast, Chase Hicks, Corbin Massey, and Millie Waterman), the swim team’s historic performance still stood out.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Amelia Beaver, Sara Chism, Elise Replogle, and Aubree Tinsley broke their own school record in prelims Friday, finishing in 1:52.22. That group had set the previous mark of 1:53.92 earlier this season.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Tinsley, Beaver, Mei Pruett, and Replogle also rewrote the record book twice. They first broke the record in prelims with a time of 4:15.44, then lowered it again in finals to 4:14.51. That broke the previous record of 4:19.44 held by Karissa Metzger, Quinn McCrea, Kathryn Flippin, and Mady McCrea.

Beaver added an individual record in the 100-yard backstroke prelims, finishing in 1:11.56 to edge past Karissa Metzger’s previous mark of 1:11.69.

Replogle advanced to finals in both her individual events, placing 14th in the 200-yard individual medley and 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a personal best of 1:13.82. The 200 free relay team placed 11th in finals, and the 400 free relay team finished 12th.
