Republic Track Grabs Multiple Medals at SBU Invite

Republic track and field earned multiple medals at the SBU High School Invite in Bolivar Monday, highlighted by Ekene Chukwu’s first-place finish in the discus.

Chukwu won the discus title with a throw of 46.48 meters to lead the boys team. Keiran Govan finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.99 meters, and Kaleb Norman placed second in the javelin with a throw of 48.19 meters.

For the girls, Gracie Troester earned silver in the 3200-meter run, finishing in 11:42.58. The girls 4×800 meter relay team of Josie Stalzer, Brylie Harris, Zoey Johns and Troester also captured second place with a time of 10:01.52.

Will Payne took third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.07 seconds, and added a fifth-place finish in the 2000-meter run at 6:55.43. Troester picked up another medal with a third-place showing in the 1600-meter run, crossing the line in 5:13.68.

Danny Fair cleared 4.15 meters in the pole vault for third place. Sienna Blankenship placed fourth in the girls pole vault at 2.75 meters, while Sammie Watson took fourth in the javelin with a throw of 35.09 meters. AJ Uhl finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, stopping the clock at 16.20 seconds.

Avery Rossow added a fifth-place finish in the girls discus (29.81 meters), and Madison Chevalier earned fifth in the javelin (33.41 meters). The boys 4×100 meter relay team of James Richmond, Peyton Ash, Treyton Gray and Gavin Lawhon took sixth place, finishing in 44.86 seconds. Landon Harper threw 13.41 meters in the shot put for sixth place.

The girls 4×200 meter relay team of Cayera Higgins, Quinnlyn Keller, Brooklyn Douglas and Nevaeh Ghan earned seventh place with a time of 1:49.66, and Ghan tied for seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.5 meters.
