The Republic boys dominated the Republic Invitational with 28 total pins as a team, two more than second-place Lathrop. But what made the performance even more impressive was the Tigers’ efficiency – they recorded those 28 pins in just 39:48 of total mat time, nearly 17 minutes faster than any other team.

Shea Rogers was Republic’s most efficient wrestler of the tournament, recording 4 pins in a total time of just 3:01. That’s an average of just 45 seconds per fall. Rogers went 4-1 overall to place fifth at 132 pounds.

Keaton Overcast continued his dominant season by capturing the 138-pound title, improving his season record to 20-2. Overcast won two matches by fall and capped off his championship run with back-to-back wins over highly ranked opponents – winning in sudden victory over previously unbeaten Chance Hensley of Glendale (24-2) in the semifinals before defeating Landon Holmes of Rogers (14-2) by decision in the finals.

Republic crowned three individual champions in the boys tournament. Corbin Massey (120), Keaton Overcast (138) and Chase Hicks (215) all won gold medals. Massey and Hicks won their finals matches convincingly – Massey by technical fall and Hicks by decision – and Overcast picked up his 100th career victory.

Millie Waterman captured the 120-pound championship at Republic’s home tournament, improving her season record to 20-4. She dominated her way through the bracket with five consecutive pins, including a fall in 2:27 over Kenleigh Virtue of Camdenton (22-10) in the championship match.

The Lady Tigers recorded 18 pins as a team during the tournament, getting falls from seven different wrestlers. Those pins came in an efficient total time of 32:52, making Republic one of just seven teams to record more than 15 falls during the event.

Millie Waterman needed just 9:12 total mat time to record her five pins on the way to a tournament championship. That was the fourth-fastest total time among wrestlers with five or more falls in the tournament.
